Kaia Ignites Korea’s Stablecoin Race with Tether, KakaoPay, and LINE NEXT
Kaia DLT Foundation is spearheading Korea's first Stablecoin Hackathon, launching August 1, 2025, in collaboration with Tether, KakaoPay, and LINE NEXT. The event underscores Kaia's ambition to dominate the KRW-pegged stablecoin market while aligning with South Korea's regulatory framework for digital assets.
The partnership leverages Tether's dominance in USD stablecoins, KakaoPay's 95% penetration in Korean payments, and LINE NEXT's Web3 infrastructure. Together, they aim to onboard 196 million LINE Messenger users into Kaia-powered services. A dual-track competition will feature a USDT-focused hackathon and an ideathon for KRW stablecoin innovation.
Winners stand to gain $72,500 (KRW 100 million) in prizes along with developmental support from Kaia. This initiative marks a strategic convergence of corporate giants and blockchain developers to accelerate Web3 adoption through stablecoin utility.
